The AMM Foundation, an autonomous, charitable trust,
is dedicated to community-friendly initiatives in the fields of
education and healthcare. Founded in 1953, the trust embodies the
family's concern for the underprivileged.
The AMM Foundation's philanthropy is unique; the giver's
humility as well as concern for the beneficiary's dignity exemplifies
its altruism.
The foundation manages a polytechnic college, four
schools and four hospitals, each a benchmark in its area. All five
educational institutions managed by AMM Foundation have introduced
a new standard in the field of education through an affordable fee
structure, IT-based curriculum, modern teaching methods, state-of-the-art
infrastructure, personalised student attention, student counseling
facility and a continuous progress review. The TI school in Ambattur,
Chennai, is the first school to be awarded the ISO 9001 certification.
The hospitals managed by the AMM Foundation have emerged as an inspiring
combination of competence, commitment and service, offering the
best technology at an affordable price.
The foundation's team of motivated members working
from the four hospitals have served more than 6.5 lakh patients
in 2006-07. Consistent with the founder's dream, the foundation
recognises the contribution of institutions and individuals through
awards and donations; it helps meritorious students take their careers
ahead through grants and scholarships from primary school to postgraduate
and doctoral levels at university.
Over the years, the foundation has reinforced the
Murugappa Group's reputation of treating the underprivileged with
respect and dignity. With its well-defined organisation structure,
vibrant team and thoughtfully designed human resource development
programmes that periodically evaluate effectiveness and efficiency,
it has also established that non-profit activities and initiatives
of the Group can be carried out with the same professionalism it
maintains in its corporate culture and business enterprises.
The AMM Foundation, earlier known as the AMM Charities
Trust, fulfils the Group's commitment to society. Apart from the
Group's tradition of 'Mahemai', where a fixed percentage of profits
are used for community work, the members of the Murugappa family
donate money and are actively involved in the foundation's educational
activities.
