Coromandel
Fertilisers Ltd (CFL), a leading manufacturer of a wide range of
fertilisers and pesticides (technical and formulations), is part
of the Rs 8,592 crores Murugappa Group. The company was incorporated in
1964, by the synergistic efforts of two major companies of the US
- Chevron Chemical Company (CCC) and International Minerals and
Chemicals Corporation (IMC) - and EID Parry Ltd (EIDP), a leading
business house in India associated with agriculture.
CFL markets around 2.3 million tonnes of phosphatic
fertilisers, making it the leader in its markets and the second-largest
producer of phosphatic fertilisers in India. It also markets phosphogypsum
and sulphur bentonite.
Coromandel Fertilisers has multi-locational
production facilities, at Visakhapatnam (AP), Ennore (near Chennai)
and Ranipet (both in Tamil Nadu), Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra, Ankleshwar
in Gujarat, and in Jammu. It markets its products all over India
through 13 marketing offices and a network of over 7,000 dealers,
and exports pesticides to various countries across the globe.
Exports
Coromandel Fertilisers Limited is known in the global agrochemical
market as the principal manufacturer of Endosulfan. It is represented
in various markets through its agents / formulators. CFL is the
third-largest manufacturer of Endosulfan, the second-largest manufacturer
of Malathion and only the second manufacturer of Phenthoate.
Coromandel's pesticide business produces over 35 types
of insecticides, fungicides and herbicides that are marketed across
the country and exported to many countries in South America, Western
Africa, Middle East and South East Asia:

of business
CFL is a producer of phosphatic fertilisers,
plant protection chemicals, specialty nutrients, etc. The company
also manufactures and sells sulphur bentonite, potash, etc. Its
well-known brand names include 'Gromor', 'Paramfos', 'Parry Sulphur'
and 'Parry Gold'.
The company is also in the business of manufacturing
and marketing of pesticides with a technical manufacturing unit
at Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) and a formulations plant at Ranipet
(Tamil Nadu). Pesticides account for nearly 10 per cent of its total
turnover.
