Godavari Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd (GFCL) is engaged
in the business of manufacture and sale of fertilisers. GFCL became
part of the Murugappa Group in July 2003, when Coromandel Fertilisers
Limited (CFL) acquired a 25.88 per cent equity stake from the Government
of Andhra Pradesh, one of the original promoters of GFCL. CFL presently
holds 45.07 per cent of GFCL equity. Other major shareholders are
IFFCO, which holds 25 per cent, as well as Foskor of South Africa
and GCT of Tunisia, which hold 5 per cent each. The public holds
the remaining shares.
