TI Cycles kicks off the 'Hercules Pedal for Mumbai' cycling event
Movement for a 'cleaner and healthier' city in association with the Mumbai Traffic Police

Mumbai, 13 March, 2007: TI Cycles of India, one of India's largest bicycles manufacturer and a part of the Rs.7300 plus crore conglomerate Murugappa Group, today announced the Hercules Pedal for Mumbai cycling event in association with the Mumbai Traffic Police. The cycle run - part of a movement for a cleaner and healthier Mumbai - will be flagged off at 8.00 am from Shivaji Park on 18th March, 2007 by Mr. Satish Mathur, Joint Commissioner of Traffic Police, Mumbai.

The theme of the event is to promote cycling as an environmentally friendly, non-polluting urban short distance mode of transport. The cycle run will see an active participation from schools, colleges, senior citizens, special corporate teams, celebrities and people from different walks of life. Along with them, more than 100 cyclists from The Mumbai Traffic Police will also be participating in this event.

Said Mr. G. Ramprasad, President, TI Cycles of India, "TI Cycles has always seriously promoted activities that highlight the importance of cycling as a healthy mode of transportation. We are delighted to partner this event that fosters the spirit of healthy living. We invite all Mumbaikars to participate in this movement for a cleaner and healthier city."

We welcome the citizens of this city to participate in large numbers and make this event a great success. We also encourage more people taking up cycling as mode of travel on a daily basis, to keep the city healthy and also ease its traffic problems considerably."

Said Mr. Pratap Jadhav, Secretary, Maharashtra Cycling Association, "It augurs well for the future of cycling as a sport that TI Cycles of India and the Traffic Police of Mumbai have joined hands for such a unique program to promote cycling. It is the first such event for this city and I am sure that it is just a matter of time that India would also take to cycling in a big way."

TI Cycles is planning to make the Hercules Pedal for Mumbai an annual event with more participation added every year.
